I have been potty training my 3 year old for what feels like an eternity! I was so happy when he showed interested at the age of 2. I thought this was going to be a piece of cake. My oldest was almost 4 years old before we FINALLY had him potty trained.
But here we are, almost 2 years later and this kid is still having accidents. Night time accidents, I get it and I am TOTALLY understanding of those. You are asleep, you can’t feel it (or just don’t want to get it) – it happens; however, middle of the day and you think it is much easier to pee in your pants in your room rather than go to the bathroom less than five steps away – a little frustrating.
I know there is a thing called the 4 year old regression and maybe that is what it is. I am just tired of him being potty trained, then he’s not, then he is, then he’s not. Some people would argue “well maybe he isn’t potty trained yet if he is still having accidents”. Yes, I would agree if he went a week and then had an accident, or maybe even two. I would even give you a month. BUT it has been 7 months since this child has had an accident and all of sudden he has peed himself EVERY DAY THIS WEEK! The last time he peed like this, we were in the middle of a move and I took it as an act of deviance (you will see this word a lot!)
There was even a point in time that he was doing a beautiful job every where but at school. He would actually poop himself every day at school and LAUGH about it! They finally started to bribe him with lollipops to get him to stop but after the winter break, he is back at it again. I don’t know if it was the time off from Christmas, his strep throat last week (and the antibiotics have thrown off his system), or what but I am pulling my hair out!
